It is difficult to say if there is even an upper limit to the price of carbon compensation, let alone to determine what that might be. Once this is formally registered as carbon emission compensation, it can be sold as a valuable commodity on the voluntary carbon market. This can help landowners acquire an additional source of revenue, which can finance the purchase of land and equipment, necessary for planting additional trees and expanding operations.

Retained Earnings Comparison
The project owners in the carbon offset market retain very little earnings from the sale of their carbon offsets. CarbonBank pays its project owners 1 euro per ton of absorbed carbon while they take on the risks and financial burden of managing the land and trees for 20 years. Meanwhile, CarbonBank sells those offsets at a price of € 90 per unit. In this example, the retained earnings are slightly more than 1%. However, this is far from being the only example of such practices.
With Coorest, landowners can sell their carbon compensation directly to the buyer. The only applicable fees are for claiming and transferring CO2 compensation on the Coorest application. If a project absorbs 10 tons of CO2 for example, the fees for claiming it are only 8% of the total or 800 kg of CO2. This means that the landowner retains 92% of their earnings.
